PLUSH! & PAT JONES
CREATION TO COLLECTION 2013

Creation to Collection 2013 showcases woven fabrics including a series of scarves, wraps, bags and wearable art pieces. All of the fabrics are designed, hand-dyed and hand-woven utilising Australian merino wool, with the addition of luxury yarns such as silk.

From a technical perspective this exhibition represents a high level of craftsmanship in the conversion of organic fabric lengths, highly prone to lose their integrity with cutting. Here the potential of woven fabric produced on a small scale is utilised in sophisticated garment construction, exploiting the best qualities of handmade, craft inspired and exclusive one-off productions.

The careful consideration of colour as a theme underpins the exhibition layout; each corner of the room is unified with a particular hue. The other feature that holds the exhibition together is the use of black draped mannequins which remain a constant backdrop to the vibrantly coloured, hand dyed garments, taking the 2D fabric into 3D wearable forms.” — Professor Stephen Naylor.
